History of AURÉA
Fragrant oils and perfumes originated in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, mostly used for personal hygiene and religious ceremonies. Almost 2000 years later, caravans traveling on camelback would transport similar aromatic goods like oud, rose, musk, and sandalwood. Along with their ingredients, Persian traders brought their expertise and unique techniques to Greek and Roman cultures. Perfumes and oils were widely used among Roman elites and became highly regarded by French aristocracy, following the fall of Rome. Countless fragrance houses would be established in France, catering to their nobility, eventually becoming the leading perfume center after another 2000 years.
From the traditions followed in ancient Egypt to the expertise of Persians to the refinement by modern France, the evolution of fragrant oils and perfumes has advanced in the footsteps of diverse Mediterranean cultures, encapsulating thousands of years.
